Penrose Trail #665
FDR 370 to FDR 380
This is a heavily used trail, especially by motorcycles. It winds in and out of cool pine forests and offers scenic vistas of Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak and Gold Camp Road. Also known as “Lower Captain Jack’s Trail.”

|Restrictions:||No ATVs. It is recommended that motorcycles use this trail in summer months only because of snow depth.|
|Water:||Drinking water is not readily available. Water from streams should be treated before use. Hikers are advised to carry an adequate supply.|
|Information Center:||Motorcycles, foot, and horse trail. The trail is open to motorcycles which are very often seen on the trail.|
From Colorado Springs, take 26th street to Gold Camp Road. Approximately 2 miles up Gold Camp Road is the trailhead.
There is limited accessiblility to those requiring a wheelchair or assistance with walking.
Camping is permitted along the trail and is recommended 300’ from any trail or stream. Use no-impact camping techniques. Pack it in/Pack it out rule applies. Campfire permits are not required but please be sure your fire is dead out before you leave. Respect other trail users.
