Fossil Ridge Trail #478

The Fossil Ridge Trail #478 begins at a parking area on FSR #771 across from the Gold Creek Campground and ends at its intersection with the McIntyre Gulch Trail #578.  This trail is located in the Fossil Ridge Recreation Management Area and follows the boundary line of the Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area.  It offers a very challenging adventure for motorcycles and mountain bikes.  Beware of steep drop-offs!  Boulder Lake and the Summerville Trail #430 can be accessed via this trail.

Usage: Medium-Heavy
Best Season: Summer
Restrictions: Open to Hiking, Horseback, Mountain Bike, and Motorcycle.

Fossil Ridge Trail Access:
From Gunnison, travel east on Highway 50 for approximately 11.5 miles to Parlin, CO.  Turn left and travel approximately 8 miles on County Road 76 to Ohio City.  Turn left on FSR #771 and continue for approximately 7 miles to the Gold Creek Campground.  Parking is on the left across from the campground.
